Director of Media Services

Doug’s twenty plus years of media experience is as diverse as it is extensive. His career started at Foote, Cone & Belding (Chicago and San Francisco) working with blue-chip CPG and Retail Brands such as Kimberly-Clark, The Dial Corporation, Pillsbury, Clorox, Pearle Vision Centers and Taco Bell.

While at FCB/San Francisco, his passion for emerging technologies were a perfect match for several of the agency’s new high tech and digital brands — Hewlett Packard, 3Com, Netcom, Excite and Amazon.com. His innate ability to bring new and creative solutions to every challenge made him a critical marketing asset for all his client partners and established him as unique media talent.

Restless and eager to apply his Web2.0 skills, Doug joined Tonic 360 where he built San Francisco’s first truly integrated media departments.

His leadership and talents gave Sun Microsystems a pin-point strategic focus for all it’s global offline and online communication efforts. The work and ideas he inspired were recognized by not only the senior management at Sun but also by B2M Magazine as he was recognized as a Media Planning All-Star.

While the ’dot bomb’ imploded much of the agency business in 2001, Doug took the down-turn as an opportunity to explore the emerging cellular market. He worked for Telephia, a leading wireless research company, as a product manager developing a online tool for tracking the wireless category advertising and spending online.

Before joining Swirl, Doug was Chief Integrator at Maiden Lane developing agnostic communication channel plans for Fisher-Price, The Examiner, Michelin Guide and Del Monte. His addition to our team gives us a truly integrated mindset at the start of every assignment with a focus on results, results, results.
