Joel Boardman joined Swirl in 2007 as Director of Strategic Technology, a role which unifies nearly a decade of work in leading online and integrated marketing agencies with his pre-agency background in research data analysis and corporate systems management. By applying technical knowledge and statistical rigor to the creation of online campaign components, he specializes in digital work that integrates seamlessly with a client’s marketing, sales and IT infrastructures.
Before coming to Swirl, Joel led digital planning and execution for both integrated and pure-play online agencies. His first agency gig was at Ogilvy Interactive in Paris, where, as Technical Director of the IBM EMEA account, he discovered a deep affinity for the practice of direct marketing. Since then, he has only become increasingly excited about deploying digital campaigns and measurement tools that yield more immediate results as well as more marketer-specific insight into patterns of customer behavior.
Most recently, he served as Director of Digital Strategy and Services for the U.S. offices of Gyro International, and has worked with a long list of technology and consumer electronics clients including IBM, Sun Microsystems, Borland Software, SGI, Trend Micro, Yahoo!, Logitech, and LeapFrog, as well as brands in the healthcare, medical device and insurance industries.
